Proactive' plan to combat climate change

Bangalore The World Environment Foundation (WEF), has proposed an eleven-point action plan called 'Proacative' for combating climate change and environment regeneration. Dr Madhav Mehra, president, WEF, while delivering a talk on 'Eco Innovative to Combat Change in Climate,' on Wednesday, said the action plan has been formulated to keep a check on the changing global environment due to global warming.
"Melting of the Arctic Greenland ice-sheets over the past 40 years has added more than 20,000 cubic kilometers of fresh water to the northern ocean. This could have a serious impact on environment," he said.
Mehra said the action plan will aim at making people opt for minimised to lifestyles by turning to renewables and decar- 4bonisation, besides in- investing in green technologies and green stock.
TO combat climate change, we need to start lowering the rate of usage of fossil fuels and clamp down on emitters of greenhouse gases. "Carbon-di-oxide emission alone contributes 78 percent towards global warming and can be cut down contributes 78 percent towards global warming and can be cut down by planting more trees, he said. Proactive aims to activate Woolens' groups and the youth for the cause of environment. More than 40,000 People have responded to the initiative in less than four days in the country, said Mehra.
